About
Trans Equipment Co. Inc was started in 1974 by Jay Plank, with six employees. The primary purpose was to repair and paint semi-trailers. Anything that a trailer may need for repairs could be performed in our shop including suspensions, roofs, floors, doors, painting, refurbishing and custom fabrication. In 1977, Trans Equipment became a new trailer dealer for Barrett Livestock Trailers and in six years the company had grown enough to build a new ten bay shop on seven acres which continues to serve as its present location.
During the early 1980’s when the length and width laws changed across the United States, Trans Equipment refurbished a lot of 45’ aluminum vans to 48’ FRP vans running several hundred trailers through our shop in a few short years. After that, the new trailer dealership expanded to include Ravens Trailers.
In 2010 Trans Equipment became a Heavy Duty Parts Distributor and added that to our trailer repair, sales, and painting. That has expanded several times and continues to grow in order to serve our customers in southeastern Pennsylvania. In 2015 and the years following, Trans Equipment expanded our sales department to include Stargate Polished Aluminum Dump Trailers, Extreme Aluminum Flatbed Trailers, and Felling Equipment Trailers.
Today, Trans Equipment continues to serve its customers with quality trailer repairs, painting, and refurbishing as when it first began almost 50 years ago. Today, we continue to offer quality trailers for sale and will continue to better serve our parts customers in central Pennsylvania with a second location in Beavertown, PA.
